We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, including your name, email address, password, role (student, parent, teacher, or admin), province, school, grade, and target NSC achievement level.

We also collect information automatically when you use the platform, such as your study progress, assessment results, AI tutor interactions, practice sessions, and device/browser information. WhatsApp verification collects your phone number solely to deliver a one-time OTP code.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide and improve the platform, including personalising your study experience, tracking your CAPS/NSC progress, powering AI tutor responses, and grading your assessments.

We may also use your information to communicate with you about your account, send important updates about the service, process payments, and prevent fraud or abuse of the platform.

3. AI Processing

When you use AI-powered features (the AI tutor, answer checking, paper chat, variant generation), your inputs are sent to our AI providers to generate responses. We only send the content necessary to produce your response and do not use your personal study data to train third-party models.

AI-generated content may be inaccurate. Always verify important information against official NSC materials and your educators.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the platform (such as payment processors, AI providers, and hosting services), and only as necessary to provide the service to you.

Teachers and parents you are linked to may see your study progress and assessment results. School-enrolled students' data may be visible to their school administrators as part of the school license.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your data using best practices.

6. Your Rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing of your data.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to keep it by law.

8. Children's Privacy

The platform is designed for South African high school students preparing for NSC exams. If you are under 18, please use the platform with the involvement of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 without parental consent.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
